The Founders of Dog Diving

A new project is coming to Carrière Lou Cabanoun… and this time, it’s going to make quite a few splashes.

For several years now, Carrière Lou Cabanoun has been growing around one simple idea:
to offer a lively, high-quality place that is constantly evolving for dog lovers and dog sport enthusiasts.

Well-maintained fields, regularly renewed equipment, seminars, competitions, and events…
the site has grown over time thanks to an ever-growing community.

Today, we would like to take the next step:

the creation of a Dog Diving pool.

Presentation of our Dog Diving Project

We would like to install a Dog Diving pool at Carrière Lou Cabanoun.

Dog Diving is a spectacular discipline where dogs run along a dock (a platform) and launch themselves into the water to chase after a toy.

It is a sport that is:

fun
accessible to many dogs
impressive to watch
and still very rare in France

In the South-East of France, there are currently almost no dedicated facilities.

Our goal is to make Lou Cabanoun a reference place to discover and practice Dog Diving, with:

training seminars
practice sessions
demonstrations
competitions
dog sport events

A project that will help further develop dog sports in the region.

What is Dog Diving?

Dog Diving is a dog sport that originated in the United States, where dogs run along a dock and jump into the water in pursuit of a toy.

Spectacular, fun, and accessible to many dogs, this sport is growing rapidly in Europe but is still relatively rare in France.
There are several types of competitions:

💦 Big Air – Long Jump

This is the most well-known discipline.

The dog runs along the dock and jumps into the pool to catch a toy thrown in front of it.

The distance between the edge of the dock and the point where the dog enters the water is measured.

Some dogs can reach jumps of more than 7 to 8 meters!

🚀 Extreme Vertical – High Jump

In this discipline, a toy is suspended above the water.

The dog must jump as high as possible to grab it.
After each round, the height is increased until the dog reaches its maximum performance.

🏊 Speed Retrieve – Timed Swim

The dog jumps into the water and must reach a toy fixed at the end of the pool as quickly as possible.

The time is measured to determine the fastest dog.

Dog Diving is both:

a spectacular sport
a highly stimulating game for dogs
and a real show for spectators

A rapidly growing discipline that brings together enthusiasts, competitors, and curious newcomers around a moment that is both fun and impressive.

A Project Supervised by Professionals

Dog Diving sessions will be led by Manon (Canicomplice) and Eryn (Motive Canin), two professionals from the canine world who are already highly involved in supporting dogs and their handlers.

To develop this discipline in the best possible conditions, Manon will complete a specific Dog Diving training with Canidefit.
The goal is to offer a structured, progressive practice adapted to dogs, while ensuring their safety and well-being.

An Installation Built by Specialists

The pool will be supplied and installed by Canidefit, a company well known in France for canine fitness and equipment dedicated to dog sports.

Working with a specialist allows us to guarantee an installation specifically designed for Dog Diving, built with dog safety and equipment durability in mind.

Why do we need your help?

Building a Dog Diving pool represents a significant investment.

Beyond the pool itself, many additional installations are required to host this discipline in the best conditions:

the purchase of the pool and its structure
the construction of the jumping dock
safety installations for dogs and handlers
technical setup and logistics around the activity
the installation of water supply and necessary connections
essential equipment for the operation and maintenance of the pool

A significant project, but one that will allow us to introduce a new discipline that is still very rare in the region.

Rather than building this project alone, we wanted to create it together with the community that has been bringing Lou Cabanoun to life since the very beginning.

Trainees, competitors, students, visitors, enthusiasts… many of you help bring this place to life every year.

With this project, you have the opportunity to:

actively take part in the creation of the pool
support the arrival of a new discipline in the region
and above all become one of the first people to write the story of Dog Diving at Lou Cabanoun

A unique project in the South of France

Dog Diving is a rapidly growing discipline worldwide, but it is still very rare in France.

In the South-East of France, dedicated facilities are almost non-existent.
This currently forces many enthusiasts to travel several hundred kilometers to practice this discipline.

With this project, Carrière Lou Cabanoun aims to become a reference place for Dog Diving in the region.

A project that will help introduce this spectacular discipline to a wider audience and continue to develop dog sports in the region.
